The garden started almost by accident 3 years ago when my daughter’s beloved dog Genna died. She wanted to bury her where she had spent many happy hours and we planted a Eucalyptus tree on the grave. When my son Jeff died a few months later it seemed right to scatter his ashes in the same area and he has a commemorative tree Rhus Typhina, the Staghorn Sumach. The first flower bed therefore was designed to include these trees. We later added a Cedar tree in memory of Phil’s son Mark.

The second bed arrived because we decided to get married !!

Both having been married before we did not need towels and ornaments, but realised that people do like to give a gift. We asked for a plant for the garden. The second bed was put in with the help of a mechanical digger (Operated by Sue) and most of the plants have the name of the donor. It is truly becoming a garden of memories.

The third project is a bottle wall. We are collecting empty wine bottles and using them bottoms outwards to build up a circular wall, When this has reached a suitable height it will be topped with a round patio slab circle with the centre missing. Ginko Biloba is to be planted in the centre and hopefully in the future it will be a nice seat with shade. Ruby our young red merle border collie is buried in here and we will be able to think of her as we sit and admire the view.
