Lima has much impressive architecture. The Catholic Cathedrals in particular are very richly appointed. We spent some time at Tipon which was an agricultural area with elaborate wells and irrigation systems. We were told the Incas could get two crops a year from these terraces. Patakancha is sited on a very steep hillside with steps all the way to the top of the terraces. It is a very steep climb and the altitude does not help with this at all !! The stone for the buildings and temple at the top come from the next mountain which is about 2 miles away as the crow flies. Unfortunately stone cannot fly and so it had to be taken down into the valley bottom and back up the other side. Our next stop was Paracas where we stayed in a very nice hotel complex with hummingbirds flitting about in the gardens. Unfortunately they are faster than me and so I didn't manage a photo. We went by boat to the seal life sanctuary to see the seals and birds.
